More Travel for your Chevy!
Offroad DesignÂ’s Swaybar Correction/Disconnect System
|
We have been seeing lots of products for Jeeps that help increase
suspension travel, but what about a full-size Chevy? Offroad Design has
just released new Sway Bar Disconnects that will allow you to get that
extra travel for under $100. Follow our installation steps, and then
we'll tell you how well they worked!
Tools Needed:
Installation:Park the vehicle on a level surface. Loosen the front swaybar-to-frame mounting bolts. Remove the bolts holding the swaybar ends to the spring bolt plate.
![]() Bolt the quick disconnect bracket to the spring plate using the original washers and the longer bolt supplied with the kit. Torque the bolts to the factory specifications (130 ft-lbs). (Note: I actually left these loose until the pins were in then tourqued them.) Slide the swaybar laterally in its mounts until it lines up with the brackets you just installed. Swing the bar down into the brackets and place the pins through the brackets and the bar ends. Tighten the front swaybar mounts.
![]() Remove the nut from the passenger side front bumpstop and place the swaybar holdup bracket over the stud. Replace the nut and align the bracket with the swaybar end then tighten the nut.
![]() Your ready to go try them out! Installation Time: 30 to 45 minutes
Summary:Awsome! Anybody who wheels their Chevy needs to order this kit. Accessories Plus generously provided their RTI ramp for a before and after test. This kit allows the swaybar to be easily disconnected for off road use and allows a softer ride and correction for lift height even when it is connected.
